In his recent Facebook post along with this photo, Mark Magnifico Magsayo wrote, “My best friend, my wife, and my girlfriend. Keep focused, stay solid to your family and dreams. Faith and hard work, it'll happen! Believe it!”
It’s rare for a boxer to speak openly and often about his wife, but Mark “Magnifico” Magsayo—holder of a 28-2 record with 18 knockouts and currently ranked WBC #2 and WBO #3 in the Junior Welterweight division—is a proud exception. He never shies away from publicly expressing his love and gratitude for Frances, his wife of ten years.
Frances Arbie Magsayo, now working in the United States, has found deep fulfillment in her role as the wife of a one-time world champion. Mark began his journey in boxing at just eight years old, selling ice cream to help support his family. His dedication paid off when he captured the WBC featherweight title by defeating Gary Russell Jr. on January 22, 2022. However, that same year, he suffered a setback, losing to Rey Vargas via unanimous decision. Another defeat followed on March 4, 2023, against Brandon Figueroa. But since then, Magsayo has rebounded strongly, stringing together four consecutive victories over Isaac Avelar, Eduardo Ramirez, Bryan Mercado, and most recently, Jorge Mata on the undercard of the Pacquiao-Barrios bout last July 19, 2025, in Las Vegas.
In a recent interview on The Schuz Show, hosted by Zach Schumaker, Magsayo opened up about how Frances has been his guiding light and unwavering source of inspiration throughout his boxing career. Together, they’ve weathered the highs and lows, standing firm in love, faith, and shared dreams.
Being a boxer's wife means living with courage, faith, and love. It’s standing strong through every round—celebrating the victories, enduring the defeats, and praying through every fight. It’s not just about the glory in the ring, but the quiet strength behind it. Every faithful boxer’s wife knows this. May their marriage bond stays forever.
When asked how much longer he plans to stay in boxing, Magsayo responded to this effect, “Eight more years would be sufficient.” He added with heartfelt sincerity, “I want to be with my wife for a longer time when I retire.”
